The 2024 Lexus LX wears a front spindle grille comprised of razor-like blades stacked from the pavement to the hood. The Ultra Luxury, $133,490, delivers on the name with premium leather and audio and second-row captain’s chairs flanking a center console. The Premium adds an adaptive suspension, a power-folding third row, and a power liftgate for about $8,000 more, which we think is the best overall value. That includes a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a separate climate control display, leather upholstery, a sunroof, and active safety features. ![]() The 2024 Lexus LX 600 costs $92,915 including a $1,350 destination charge in base trim. Though the Lexus LX isn’t evaluated by the NHTSA or the IIHS, Lexus supplies automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, park assist with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system. Gas mileage is miserable by nearly any standard, though it’s better than past generations of the LX. Off-road capability will satisfy most, though it’s better to stick with 18-inch wheels instead of the available 22-inch wheels. A standard 10-speed automatic transmission sends 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque to all four corners, and despite the LX’s significant heft, its finely-tuned steering may tempt drivers to push it in all the wrong places. The LX 600’s name bears no relation to its powertrain, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 found in Toyota’s Tundra. It’s beautifully designed, though, and build quality is impressive. The LX comes standard with five seats, though most configurations include a kid-friendly third row. The LX offers fewer bespoke interior options than some rivals, but there are still enough choices on the menu to satisfy expensive tastes. The cabin focuses more on passenger comfort than on capability, with controls for suspension settings and drive modes less prominent than the 12.3-inch touchscreen, climate control display, and various luxury features. The beefy body wears distinctive Lexus design cues with various degrees of success for example, the big fender flares and side profile lines are more effective at communicating capability and intent than the front grille, which cascades nearly to the pavement. It’s big and blocky, and rides on a 112.0-inch wheelbase carefully chosen for its off-road capability. after 2021 but will make a return for 2024. The LX is essentially a luxury version of the old Toyota Land Cruiser, which was discontinued in the U.S. The Lexus LX 600 carries over unchanged for 2024, in base, Premium, F Sport, Luxury, and Ultra Luxury trims. It’s good for a TCC Rating of 6.4 out of 10. The Lexus LX delivers a big cabin with plenty of features, a smooth ride, and character to spare.
